The US-Iranian escalation paralyzes navigation.. The Strait of Hormuz records the lowest ship crossing in two months

صحافة بلادي — DohaOn Tuesday, the Strait of Hormuz recorded the lowest level of ship transit in about two months, in light of the escalation of military tension between the United States and Iran.

The data showed that only four ships had crossed the strait until 2:30 pm Doha time, including an oil tanker and three container ships, an unprecedented decline since the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran on June 17.

This decline coincides with the United States carrying out a new round of strikes on targets inside Iran, and Tehran responded by targeting sites in Bahrain and two Emirati oil tankers in Omani territorial waters, which increased concerns about the security of navigation in one of the most important global sea lanes.

Data from the MarineTraffic platform also revealed that the ships that crossed the strait departed from ports in the Sultanate of Oman, China, and the Emirates, with their final destinations and ownership information hidden.

The Strait of Hormuz is a major artery for global oil trade, and any decline in shipping traffic through it raises fears of potential disruptions in energy markets and international supply chains.
