Brussels –Students wishing to travel to the Schengen space during 2027 must prepare a file proving their academic status and the purpose of the trip, in addition to basic documents related to travel, accommodation, financial resources and insurance, in accordance with the requirements determined by the country to which the application will be submitted and the nature of the requested visa.
Proof of registration in an educational institution is one of the most important documents related to academic status, and can be in the form of a registration certificate or student card, while additional documents may be required to prove the purpose of travel, especially for students participating in educational or training programs.
The student must also prove that he has sufficient financial resources to cover the costs of accommodation, travel and return, whether through his own resources or, as the case may be, through documents proving that another person is responsible for the expenses. File requirements also include proof of place of residence, health or travel insurance, along with transportation documents and other documents related to the trip.
If the student is a minor, additional documents may be requested regarding the consent of the parents or legal guardian, according to the rules in force in the country in question. The Consulate also reserves the right to request other documents when needed while studying the file.
For students wishing to actually study within one of the European Union countries for a period exceeding a short stay, the matter may be related to a long-stay national visa and not a short-stay Schengen visa, and each country determines its own conditions, including acceptance or registration in the educational institution, proof of financial resources, and health insurance.
Accordingly, students wishing to travel during 2027 are advised to rely on the list of official documents of the destination country before submitting the application, because the detailed requirements may vary depending on the purpose of travel, the student’s status, and the length of stay.
