Rabat –In implementation of the high instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces and Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of National Defense Administration, Abdellatif Loudi, received, today, Wednesday in Rabat, the High Representative of the Peace Council in Gaza, Nikolay Mladenov, where the meeting culminated in the signing of the agreement regarding the participation of the Kingdom of Morocco in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza.
This meeting took place in the presence of Lieutenant General Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Region, and Lieutenant General Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, along with a high-level delegation that includes officials from the Peace Council in Gaza and the Commander of the International Stabilization Force.
According to a statement from the Department of National Defense, this visit falls within the framework of embodying the commitments of the Kingdom of Morocco as a founding member of the Peace Council, in line with the high royal directives announced during the inaugural meeting of the Council held in Washington.
The Moroccan side stressed during the meeting that the Kingdom’s participation in the International Stabilization Force reflects its firm commitment to the values of peace, cooperation and international solidarity, and is an extension of the role it plays in supporting regional and international security and stability, recalling the experience accumulated by the Royal Armed Forces in peacekeeping operations under the banner of the United Nations, in addition to the royal initiatives aimed at promoting regional integration and development.
For their part, officials of the Peace Council in Gaza and the Commander of the International Stabilization Force praised the Moroccan contribution to this initiative, which includes the deployment of high-ranking officers from the Royal Armed Forces within the joint command of the force, and frameworks from the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of National Security, in addition to establishing a field military hospital to support humanitarian efforts.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the agreement regulating Morocco’s participation in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza, as it is the legal framework that defines the technical and operational aspects of this participation, and confirms the common will to enhance security and stability through humanitarian and field security initiatives.
