Rabat –Today, Friday, the Bank of Morocco announced the publication of two new working documents in French and English, which address the challenges of the central bank’s digital currency and the possibility of its integration into economic models, within the “Publications and Research” section on its electronic portal.
The first document is titled “Central Bank Digital Currency: Bets and Lessons Learned for Morocco,” while the second document presents a model of a stochastic dynamic general equilibrium for a small and open economy, while incorporating the option of a central bank digital currency.
The bank explained that these publications allow sharing the results of research completed by its researchers with the scientific community and the public, and also aim to contribute to enriching the debate on economic and financial issues, and enhancing cooperation with universities and research institutions.
The publication of the two studies comes in the context of research into the economic and financial dimensions of digital currencies issued by central banks, and their potential repercussions on the Moroccan economy, without this meaning announcing a date for launching the digital dirham or adopting a final decision regarding it.
