The Moroccan youth team secured a ticket to the quarter-finals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, after defeating its Tunisian counterpart, 3-1, in the match that brought them together on Wednesday evening in the city of Ismailia, within the third round of the group stage.
Ayman Al-Rakik scored the goal for Morocco in the 44th minute, before Anis Dubal equalized the score for Tunisia at the beginning of the second half (53rd) after a ball hit a Moroccan defender.
In the final minutes, Ismail Bakhti settled the confrontation with a second goal in the 86th minute, taking advantage of a defensive error, then Abdel-Lawi added the third goal in stoppage time (90+2) with an individual effort.
The Moroccan team raised its score to 7 points, topping the second group, while Tunisia’s score stagnated at 3 points in third place behind Nigeria, which tied with Kenya.
