Spain, like the rest of the European Union, has officially begun workWinter timeDuring the last week of October, clocks were set back by sixty minutes to match official winter time.
Clock changing mechanism on the peninsula and the Canary Islands
In accordance with the regulations approved by the European Commission and published in the Spanish Official Gazette (BOE), the timing has been adjusted as follows:
- On the Spanish Peninsula, the Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla:At 3:00 AM the clock was reset to 2:00 AM (UTC+1).
- In the Canary Islands archipelago:The clock was reset at 2:00 AM to 1:00 AM (UTC time).
The impact of time adjustment on flights and administrative appointments
The transition to winter time means the sun will rise earlier in the morning versus darkness fall earlier in the evening. Air and rail transport companies and port departments call on travelers, especially members of the Moroccan community traveling between Spain and Morocco, to check the local time approved for travel tickets and consular and administrative appointments, noting that smart phones and computers connected to the Internet automatically update the clock.
