BenghaziThe Municipality of Benghazi discussed with a high-level delegation from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) a project to develop and rehabilitate the city’s water and sanitation network infrastructure, in a step aimed at improving basic services and enhancing public health.
The meeting discussed UNICEF’s vision to modernize dilapidated networks and rehabilitate the main pumping and treatment stations, which contributes to raising operating efficiency, improving the quality of drinking water, and reducing health risks and diseases associated with the deterioration of infrastructure.
The two sides agreed to hold a meeting with the Advisory Committee of the Municipality of Benghazi, which includes representatives of the Water and Sanitation Company, the Electricity Company, the Man-Made River Company, and Urban Planning, in addition to the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, with the aim of coordinating technical efforts and ensuring the efficient implementation of the project.
The Municipality of Benghazi confirmed, in a statement, that cooperation with UNICEF represents a pivotal step towards addressing the water infrastructure crisis, and moving from temporary solutions to sustainable projects that provide a healthy and safe environment for the city’s residents.
