Renard warns the Tunisia national team before Japan

Monterrey –French coach Hervé Renard, the new coach of the Tunisian national team, called on the “Eagles of Carthage” players to turn the page on the previous loss and focus on the next confrontation against the Japanese national team, stressing that the current stage does not tolerate thinking about the past during the 2026 World Cup competitions.

During his first official meeting with the players, Renard stressed that football requires a quick reaction and not dwelling on failures, highlighting that physical and mental exhaustion is normal after matches, but professionalism requires overcoming this through high mental strength and full focus on upcoming achievements.

The coach explained that the problem does not lie in the general level of the team, but rather in the lack of intensity and dynamism in some periods of play, calling for raising the tempo and restoring mental readiness before facing Japan, which he described as the decisive stage.

Renard also reminded the players of their responsibility towards the fans who support the team, noting the need to provide a strong reaction that reflects the value of the team, especially after the criticism that accompanied the first loss.

The French coach concluded his statements by emphasizing that the Tunisian national team’s chances still exist in the competition, as long as there are two matches remaining in the group stage, but success depends on a strong personality and teamwork under the slogan “We are together for the team.”

For their part, a number of players expressed their support for the new technical framework, stressing their desire to correct the course and restore balance, in preparation for the expected confrontation against Japan on June 21, before the match with the Netherlands on the 26th of the same month.
