Mauritania and Guinea-Bissau are discussing enhancing cooperation in fishing and marine infrastructure

Nouakchott –The Mauritanian Minister of Fishing, Marine and Port Infrastructure, Mokhtar Ahmed Boussif, received, on Wednesday evening in Nouakchott, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Fatoumata Gao, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, with a focus on the fishing sector and marine and port infrastructure.

The meeting came within the framework of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guinea-Bissau to Mauritania, where the two sides discussed the prospects for developing relations between the two countries and expanding areas of partnership in the maritime sectors to serve common interests.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the field of marine fishing and developing port infrastructure, as they are among the vital sectors that form the basis of economic cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Fishing, Marine and Port Infrastructure, Sidi Aali Ould Sidi Boubakar, along with a number of ministry officials, including the advisor in charge of communication, the director of programming, cooperation and studies, and the director of wealth reclamation.

The Ambassador, Director General of Bilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau to Mauritania, in addition to members of the delegation accompanying the Minister, also participated in the meeting.
