A record jump in oil prices and tanker shipping costs are putting European economies in front of a difficult test as the peak of winter energy demand approaches.
صحافة بلادي — Oil prices in global markets recorded a strong jump, pushing global benchmark crude“Brent”To touch and cross the threshold$110 per barrel(Closing near $109.86), at its highest level in months, driven by escalating geopolitical risks in vital sea lanes and damage to energy supply chains.
A global diesel crisis and a doubling of the cost of sea freight
Reports from the International Energy Agency and commodity market analysts stated that the targeting of refineries and energy infrastructure between Russia and Ukraine, in conjunction with tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, led to a doubling of insurance and shipping fees for oil and gas tankers, with warnings of the continued scarcity of global diesel supplies until the second half of 2027.
Economic and social setbacks in Europe
European economists warned that the continuation of energy prices above the barrier of 105 to 110 dollars per barrel will impose new inflationary pressures on the euro zone, and increase the cost of industrial production and home heating bills in major European capitals.
