The Revolutionary Guard accuses Washington of violating the Strait of Hormuz understandings and threatens to target its supporters

Tehran– The Iranian Revolutionary Guard escalated its tone towards the United States, accusing Washington of violating the understandings related to regulating navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and stressing that any country that provides military support to the United States in the current confrontation may be considered a “legitimate target” from its point of view.

The Revolutionary Guard said, in a statement, that the memorandum of understanding regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz stipulates that transit arrangements are determined in accordance with the mechanisms announced by Iran, considering that the United States’ announcement of an alternative corridor for ships to cross represents a violation of these understandings.

The statement added that any country, including Britain or others, may face an Iranian response if it participates in supporting American military operations.

On the other hand, the websiteAxiosCiting two informed sources, US President Donald Trump directed the US military not to carry out any new strikes against Iran at the present time, in a move aimed at giving diplomatic efforts an opportunity to advance.

According to the report, on Friday, Trump refused to approve plans to launch additional attacks, coinciding with the arrival of an Omani delegation to Tehran to hold discussions related to reopening the Strait of Hormuz, while keeping military plans ready in anticipation of any possible escalation.

The two sources indicated that the decision may reflect the US administration’s desire to test the diplomatic path, with it being unclear whether the suspension of strikes represents a temporary measure or a permanent shift in US policy towards Iran.
