Russia/Ukraine-Today, Friday, the war between Russia and Ukraine witnessed a new escalation with the exchange of missile attacks and marches between the two sides, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries, and targeted cities and facilities within the territories of the two countries.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that six people were killed and dozens injured in a Russian missile attack that targeted an area near the capital, Kiev, while the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, confirmed that air defense systems responded to the attack after warnings of missiles heading towards the capital were issued.
In eastern Ukraine, five people were killed and nine others were injured as a result of two Russian raids on the city of Slovyansk in the Donetsk region, according to the Ukrainian authorities, who explained that the bombing caused damage to homes and civilian facilities, including the headquarters of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia, with calls for residents to evacuate the city.
On the other hand, the Russian authorities announced that six people were killed and 26 others were injured following a Ukrainian attack that targeted a facility in the Kirov province in central Russia, noting that the death toll reached 32 people, including one dead and one wounded.
The Leningrad region also announced that a fire had broken out in a warehouse belonging to the Russian e-commerce company Wildberries after an attack by a Ukrainian drone, which led to three people being injured and work halting at a number of the company’s logistics sites.
Ukraine confirms that the company’s facilities are part of the infrastructure supporting the Russian army, while Moscow denies that the company has any relationship with military supplies.
These developments come in light of the continuing military confrontations between the two countries, amid the escalation of the exchange of strikes and the targeting of vital infrastructure and installations on both sides of the conflict.
