Sabri Lamouchi: Morocco has become the most prominent football model in Africa thanks to its sports project

SportsTunisian coach Sabri Lamouchi praised the great development that Moroccan football has witnessed in recent years, considering that the Kingdom has today become one of the most prominent football models on the African continent thanks to a clear sports vision and continuous investments.

Lamouchi said, in media statements, that the football scene in North Africa has changed remarkably compared to what it was about two decades ago, explaining that the Tunisian national team was superior to its Moroccan counterpart at that time, before Morocco succeeded in achieving a qualitative leap at various levels.

The Tunisian coach pointed out that the Moroccan football project is based on basic pillars, including investment in sports infrastructure, the establishment of specialized academies, and the development of training programs for young players, which was reflected in the results achieved by the national teams in various categories.

He added that this development has strengthened the attractiveness of the Moroccan national team for dual nationality players, who now choose to represent Morocco out of conviction in the sporting project and future ambitions, and not as a secondary option.

Lamouchi concluded his statements by emphasizing that Morocco today has an integrated and ambitious football project that allows attracting talent and refining it in a professional environment capable of achieving more successes on the continent and internationally.

It is noteworthy that Sabri Lamouchi led the Tunisian national team in one match during the 2026 World Cup finals, before ending his duties after Tunisia lost to Sweden 5-1, to be succeeded by French coach Hervé Renard.
