With the extensive daily use of plastic water bottles, new warnings are emerging about the potential risks associated with them. Nutrition expert Sidra Al-Jundi issued a warning on her Instagram account, noting that these bottles may contain “Bisphenol A” known as BPA, which is a chemical used in the manufacture of plastic.
Elgindy explains that BPA can dissolve in water or food when exposed to heat, putting public health at risk. According to research, the body’s exposure to this substance may lead to hormonal disorders, which contributes to the development of some types of cancer, and other health problems such as heart disease and reproductive problems.
Al-Jundi added that recent research confirms the negative effects of BPA on health, as it can lead to endocrine disorders, weight problems, insulin resistance, and the potential harm of stress to pregnant women and fetuses.
To protect our health, Elgindy recommends following the following tips:
Use BPA-free bottles, preferably made of glass or alternative non-plastic materials.
Avoid exposing plastic bottles to heat.
Pay attention to the “BPA FREE” label when purchasing plastic bottles.
In addition, Al-Jundi stresses the need to reduce the use of canned goods that contain BPA, as plastic pollution in food and water is still being studied, but plastic particles have been found in the tissues of plants and animals, raising concerns about their health effects.
These warnings emphasize the importance of taking preventive measures to maintain our health and avoid potential risks associated with plastic.
