Casablanca –On Friday evening, a court in Casablanca issued six-month prison sentences against six minors, on the grounds that they were being pursued in a file related to the “Generation Z 212” movement, after they were charged with charges related to obstructing traffic on the urban highway during the protests that the city witnessed during the fall of last year.
These rulings came within the framework of a series of judicial follow-ups related to the events that accompanied the movement protests, which were demanding reforms in the health and education sectors and strengthening anti-corruption mechanisms.
According to the file data, four of the minors were subject to placement measures in a special juvenile center, and they are expected to benefit from release after completing their sentence, while the other minors were followed up on their release.
These rulings come a week after the judiciary issued rulings against 18 young adults on the basis of the same case, which ranged between effective and suspended imprisonment, as a number of them left the prison institution after completing their sentence.
The Public Prosecution had previously announced that the arrests were made in connection with incidents related to obstructing traffic on the Casablanca urban highway, incidents that were considered a violation of the laws in force.
The “Generation Z212” protests during the fall of 2025 witnessed great momentum over a period of weeks, before their pattern gradually declined after the launch of a number of initiatives and measures related to social reforms and support for the health and education sectors.
Judicial authorities have also previously revealed that thousands of people were being followed in files related to the events that followed some protests, especially those that witnessed riots or disruption of public order in a number of regions.
The judiciary continues to consider the files related to these events in accordance with the applicable legal procedures, amid widespread public opinion, given the volume of cases related to the movement and their legal and social repercussions.
