United States– US President Donald Trump confirmed, on Friday, that the United States agreed to continue negotiations with Iran, after a request made by Tehran, but at the same time he stressed thatThe ceasefire between the two sides has endedThis is an indication of the continued military escalation, despite the fact that diplomatic channels of communication remain open.
Trump said, in a post on the Truth Social platform, that Iran requested the resumption of talks, adding that Washington agreed to that, but informed the Iranian side “clearly and unambiguously that the ceasefire has ended.”
This statement comes in light of the escalation of the military confrontation, as the Iranian Ministry of Health announced that the American strikes over the past two days resulted in the death of 17 people and the injury of 93 others, despite the existence of a previous memorandum of understanding between the two parties.
For its part, American military sources explained that the strikes targeted about 90 military sites inside Iran, including air defense systems and warehouses for missiles and drones, with the aim of reducing Iranian military capabilities.
On the other hand, Tehran accused the United States of targeting civilian infrastructure, including bridges and railway lines linking Tehran and the city of Mashhad, in addition to the vicinity of the Bushehr nuclear plant in the south of the country.
Despite the escalation on the ground, diplomatic movements are still continuing, as Iranian media reported the arrival of a Qatari delegation to Tehran on Friday, as part of mediation efforts aimed at containing tension, especially after developments related to the Strait of Hormuz and the exchange of strikes between Washington and Tehran.
