Tetouan –The Tetouan Security Prefecture categorically denied the validity of the allegations circulating on social media regarding a video clip showing the assault of a person on the public street, after it was promoted as documenting a physical assault coupled with theft that occurred in the city of Tetouan.
The security mandate confirmed, in an official statement issued today, Friday, July 10, 2026, that the technical research and investigations it initiated immediately after monitoring the video showed that the police services did not record any criminal incident that matches the content of the circulated recording.
The statement explained that investigations proved that the incident occurred outside Moroccan territory, specifically in the Spanish city of Vitoria, where it had previously been widely circulated in the media and communication platforms.
The Tetouan Security Prefecture stressed that publishing such fake news would undermine the sense of security among citizens, stressing in return that research is still ongoing under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution, in order to identify the parties behind the promotion of these misleading data and arrange the necessary legal responsibilities.
