Rabat –French media reports revealed new scenes related to the selection of young player Ayoub Bouadi to represent the Moroccan national team, after previous communication between him and former French star Zinedine Zidane, who is nominated to coach the French national team in the future, in the context of a renewed controversy within France about the loss of an international talent to the “Atlas Lions.”
According to what was reported by the “RMC Sport” network, Zidane contacted Bouadi during the period of doubt about his international future, and expressed his admiration for his potential, but he explained to him that he could not make any promises regarding his place with the French national team, in reference to the ambiguity of his future within the “Roosters.”
This comes after Bouadi, who was born in France of Moroccan origins, made his decision to represent the Moroccan national team in late May, after years of progressing through the French national team’s senior categories, before choosing to join the “Atlas Lions” at the senior national team level.
The same report stated that the player’s decision sparked debate within French football circles, especially after his remarkable brilliance in the 2026 World Cup finals, where he gave a strong performance against Brazil, which strengthened his presence within the Moroccan squad.
Since joining the Moroccan national team under the leadership of coach Mohamed Wehbe, Bouadi has participated in four matches for a total of 270 minutes, during which he contributed to positive results that included two victories and two draws, without scoring or assisting goals so far, according to data from the “Transfer Market” website.
Bouadi is considered one of the most prominent emerging talents in the “Atlas Lions” midfield, as he received widespread praise after his performance against Brazil, in a match that ended in a draw (1-1), during which the Moroccan team showed remarkable harmony in the midfield alongside other players.
This file brings back to the forefront the growing competition between European teams and Morocco to attract players with dual citizenship, in light of the transformation that the Moroccan national team has witnessed in recent years in terms of attracting young talents.
