Under the high instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mohammed Bariz, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Region, will pay a working visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia during the period from 23 to 26 April.
A statement from the General Command of the Royal Armed Forces stated that this visit witnessed a meeting between Lieutenant General Muhammad Bariz and his Ethiopian counterpart, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces. During the meeting, ways to enhance military cooperation between the two countries were discussed and a group of topics of common interest were discussed.
The two military officials expressed their satisfaction with the new dynamism witnessed in military relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Ethiopia, as a draft comprehensive agreement related to various aspects of bilateral military cooperation was reviewed, which is expected to be signed in the near future.
Lieutenant General Briz also held a meeting with the Ethiopian Minister of State for Defense, Marta Luigi, in the presence of Nuzha Al-Alawi Al-Muhammadi, Ambassador of His Majesty the King in Addis Ababa, where visions were exchanged on ways to consolidate military cooperation and expand it to include new fields.
The visit also included inspection tours of a number of military facilities and institutes of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, including the Information Network Security Department, the Artificial Intelligence Institute, the Bishoftu Air Base, and the ammunition factory.
This visit falls within the framework of strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries and supporting security and military cooperation efforts on the African continent.
