Tunisia –The Ministry of Trade and Export Development announced that economic monitoring teams seized large quantities of subsidized and smuggled materials, and issued 2,974 economic violations during the period from July 1 to 12, 2026, as part of intensifying campaigns to monitor markets and combat monopoly and speculation.
The seizures included 72 tons of subsidized grain derivatives, 16 tons of feed, a ton of sugar, 15,000 eggs, 877 kilograms of smuggled coffee, 6,250 subsidized chairs, in addition to 1,340 packs of tobacco, according to ministry data.
The Ministry confirmed that it has prepared a work program extending during the months of July and August, aiming to enhance the control of supply and prices, improve the availability of basic and subsidized materials, with a focus on popular and rural areas, and follow up on the distribution of priority products.
The program also includes intensifying joint campaigns to combat monopoly, speculation, and illegal price increases, and monitoring the distribution routes of subsidized materials, in addition to strengthening oversight of the transparency of commercial transactions and ensuring respect for legal prices and profit margins.
