Tunisia –The Sousse Regional Narcotics Control Division, affiliated with the Gurdjani Narcotics Sub-Department, succeeded in dismantling an international network active in the supply, transport and promotion of drugs between Tunisia and a number of Sahel states, with the seizure of more than 5,000 “Ecstasy” narcotic tablets in the city of Moknine.
According to data reported by Tunisian media, the network relied on introducing narcotic drugs through a port, before storing them inside the homes and peasant estates of Moknine, in preparation for promoting them in the states of Sousse and Monastir.
The security operation resulted in the seizure of sums of money, luxury cars, and large motorcycles, in addition to a number of valuable movables, suspected of being linked to the proceeds of drug trafficking.
The security services also arrested two people suspected of involvement in the network, while a number of suspects were included in the inspection list, including Tunisians with foreign nationalities, while research continues to uncover the rest of those involved and extensions of the network.
