Washington –US President Donald Trump announced, on Monday, June 15, that oil tankers had begun leaving the Strait of Hormuz via safe sea routes, following the announcement of reaching an agreement with Iran, in a remarkable development that concerns one of the most important strategic energy corridors in the world.
Trump explained, in a blog post on his “Truth Social” platform, that “ships have begun moving, many of them loaded with oil, out of the Strait of Hormuz,” noting that they are taking the “completely safe southern route,” with other alternative routes in use.
This announcement comes in the context of the calm that followed reaching an agreement between Washington and Tehran, amid international anticipation of the repercussions of this development on the security of maritime navigation and global energy markets, especially in the Gulf region.
