Nouakchott –The Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, witnessed the funeral prayer for the soul of Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, in the presence of a number of worshipers and national figures, coinciding with President Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al-Ghazouani heading to Doha to offer his condolences on the death of the Emir.
The scholar Sheikh Mohammed Al-Hassan Ould Al-Dado led the crowds of worshipers at the Ould Fata Mosque in the Old Airport area, in the presence of the Chargé d’Affairs at the Qatari Embassy in Mauritania, along with national figures and citizens, in a scene that reflected the popular reaction to the death of the Emir.
This comes after the Mauritanian presidency announced the direction ofPresident GhazouaniTo the Qatari capital to offer condolences, after sending a cable of condolences to the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in which he expressed his condolences to the ruling family and the Qatari people, asking God to grant the deceased his mercy.
Mauritania also witnessed a wave of official and popular condolence messages, as personalities and activists praised the career of Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the relations between Mauritania and Qatar, with pictures and clips of absentee prayers being circulated across social media platforms.
The Qatari Emiri Diwan announced the death of the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, at the age of 74, after a career during which he led the State of Qatar between 1995 and 2013, before voluntarily handing over power to his son, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
