Edit BakroIn a step aimed at enhancing the safety of products traded in the markets, the administrative authorities in Adal Bakro District, eastern Mauritania, supervised the destruction of 3 tons of expired food and consumer goods, in the presence of representatives of the security authorities and competent authorities.
The operation was supervised by the governor of the province, Mahfouz Ould Hadmin Ould Abouh, who confirmed that this step falls within the efforts aimed at protecting the health of citizens and combating the circulation of unfit for consumption products.
The destruction process came after a field inspection campaign carried out by the regional delegation of the Ministry of Commerce and Tourism since the end of last week inside the Bakro Justice Market, where the monitoring teams were able to seize large quantities of materials violating health standards, before seizing them and completing the necessary legal procedures to destroy them.
The Ministry of Commerce and Tourism confirms that market control campaigns will continue in various states, with the aim of combating commercial fraud, monitoring spoiled or expired products, and ensuring that merchants adhere to approved standards for consumer protection.
This operation comes in light of the Mauritanian authorities tightening their control measures on the markets, especially with the increasing demand for food and consumer goods, in order to ensure the provision of safe products to citizens and reduce the health risks associated with the trading of goods that do not conform to specifications.
