Benghazi –The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan government appointed by Parliament, Abdul Hadi Al-Hawaij, held discussions with a Moroccan parliamentary delegation that participated in the work of the Asian-African Parliamentary Conference, which was hosted by the city of Benghazi on June 15 and 16.
The discussions focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Morocco and Libya, especially in the economic, trade and investment fields, in addition to examining mechanisms for expanding cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries.
During the meeting, the Libyan side reviewed the ongoing development and reconstruction projects in the city of Benghazi, highlighting the investment opportunities available to economic actors and Moroccan companies to contribute to these projects.
The two sides also discussed ways to encourage trade exchanges and develop economic cooperation, in addition to strengthening air and sea connectivity, which contributes to facilitating the movement of people and goods and supporting exchanges between the two countries.
The meeting was an opportunity to emphasize the importance of activating channels of communication and coordination between the legislative institutions in Morocco and Libya, by strengthening the role of parliamentary friendship groups and exchanging expertise and experiences in the legislative field.
The Libyan official praised the role played by Morocco in supporting dialogue and stability efforts in Libya during the past years, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation and consultation to serve the common interests of the two countries.
