A noticeable improvement in water resources in Morocco after the recent rain and snowfalls

The recent rain and snowfalls that affected a number of regions of the Kingdom contributed to a noticeable improvement in water resources, according to official data issued by the Ministry of Equipment and Water, which reported that the filling rate of dams reached 43.9 percent nationwide.

According to the same data, the total volume of water stored in Morocco currently amounts to 7,369.6 million cubic metres, recording an increase of 54.2 percent compared to the same period in 2025, i.e. an increase of approximately 2,590.6 million cubic metres.

A direct role for the recent precipitation

The Alma Dialna platform, which specializes in tracking the water situation in Morocco, explained that this improvement is mainly due to the recent rain and snowfalls that covered large areas of the national territory, and contributed to enhancing the water reserve and raising the level of a number of dams.

A clear increase in the filling rates of dams

According to the same source, during recent days, Moroccan dams recorded a remarkable development in filling rates, as the Oued El Makhzen Dam reached a full filling rate of 100 percent, while the national average stabilized at 43.9 percent until Tuesday.

These indicators, according to available data, reflect the direct positive impact of the recent rainfall on the strategic water reserve, in a national context characterized by increasing challenges related to water security.

Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdullah Dam is almost full At the level of the Rabat region, the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdullah Dam recorded an exceptional rise in water levels, as the volume of the reserve reached 974 million cubic metres, i.e. a filling rate of approximately 99.9 percent, compared to only 38 percent during the same period last year.

This dam is considered one of the basic infrastructures for supplying the capital, Rabat, and its surroundings with drinking water, which gives this development special strategic importance.

Several other dams in the Kingdom also recorded significant increases in the volume of water reserves during the last twenty-four hours, including:
