His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, affirmed that the great success achieved by the thirty-fifth session of the African Cup of Nations, which the Kingdom hosted between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026, constitutes the result of broad national cohesion and a collective victory for Morocco and Africa alike.
In a statement issued by the Royal Court, His Majesty the King expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to all components of the Moroccan nation, including institutions and citizens, for their distinguished efforts that contributed to the success of this major continental event, which received wide international praise and an organization described as exemplary.
His Majesty congratulated male and female citizens across the various cities of the Kingdom, praising the spirit of responsibility and collective engagement that characterized the various stages of the organization, highlighting that this success reflects Morocco’s ability to host major demonstrations according to high standards, thanks to a long-term strategic vision.
His Majesty the King also noted the broad support that the national team received from millions of Moroccans inside and outside the country, considering that the results achieved, most notably reaching eighth place in the world, are the result of an ambitious sports policy and continuous investments in infrastructure, in addition to the national spirit rooted in talented Moroccan players from the world who chose to defend the national colors with pride.
The communication noted that this continental tournament was not limited to its sporting dimension, but rather constituted a prominent station for measuring the development progress achieved by the Kingdom, within the framework of a unique Moroccan model that places the citizen at the heart of public policies, and makes comprehensive development an essential pillar for building the future.
Regarding the unfortunate events that took place in the final minutes of the final match, His Majesty the King stressed that the bonds of African brotherhood will remain stronger than all circumstantial emotions, stressing that Moroccan success is also a success for Africa, and that the Kingdom is proud of its contribution to radiating the continent and enhancing the status of African football globally.
In the face of some defamation campaigns and attempts to undermine credibility, His Majesty the King renewed his confidence in the awareness of the Moroccan people and their ability to discriminate, stressing that attempts to spread division and hatred will not undermine the depth of the historical ties that unite the peoples of the continent, nor the path of growing African cooperation and partnerships.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that Morocco will remain an African country loyal to the values of brotherhood, solidarity and respect, continuing, in accordance with the visionary vision of His Majesty the King, in its firm commitment to a united and prosperous Africa, by sharing its expertise, experience and skills with the rest of the countries of the continent.
