The General Directorate of Taxes announced that it will begin administering the housing tax and the collective services tax, starting June 12, 2025, in accordance with Law No. 14.25 amending and supplementing Law No. 47.06 relating to territorial collectivities levies.
The Directorate explained, through a statement published on its official website, that this measure comes within the framework of activating the contents of the new law, issued in Issue No. 7412 of the Official Gazette, which stipulates the transfer of the jurisdiction to administer these two taxes from territorial communities to the General Directorate of Taxes.
This institutional transformation aims to enhance the efficiency and transparency of local collection management, improve the quality of services provided to citizens, by unifying and simplifying procedures, and expanding the scope of digitization in tax collection.
It is worth noting that this step falls within the tax reforms aimed at modernizing the local tax system and ensuring its integration with the national tax system, in a way that enhances tax justice and keeps pace with the economic and social transformations that the Kingdom is experiencing.
