Cairo –The Eighth Conference of the Arab Parliament and the heads of Arab councils and parliaments praised the role played by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Jerusalem Committee, in defending the city of Jerusalem and supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, as part of the final resolution issued by the conference regarding confronting Israeli policies aimed at liquidating the Palestinian issue.
This position came during the conclusion of the conference, which was organized by the Arab Parliament in partnership with the Arab Parliamentary Union at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, where the participants affirmed their support for the strategic role played by the Al-Quds Committee, headed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in protecting the Holy City and preserving its religious, historical and cultural identity.
The resolution stressed the importance of the efforts made by the Jerusalem Committee to strengthen the steadfastness of Palestinians in the city of Jerusalem, and to confront Israeli measures aimed at changing the legal, historical and demographic status of the city, as it is the cradle of the heavenly religions and a symbol of religious and civilizational coexistence.
The conference renewed its adherence to the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, while guaranteeing the right of Palestinian refugees to return and compensation in accordance with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
The participants also stressed that the two-state solution remains the only viable option to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, calling for intensifying Arab and international efforts to protect Palestinian rights and reach a political settlement that guarantees security and stability in the region.
This decision reflects the continued Arab appreciation for the role played by Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in defending Jerusalem through the presidency of the Jerusalem Committee, in addition to the field efforts implemented by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency through social, health, educational and development projects aimed at supporting the steadfastness of Jerusalemites and preserving the Arab and Islamic identity of the Holy City.
