Morocco –Eight migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa and the Maghreb region were able to reach the occupied city of Ceuta during the last hours, taking advantage of the atmosphere of Eid al-Adha, despite the security measures adopted in the vicinity of the occupied border, according to what was reported by Spanish media.
According to Spanish security sources, quoted by the Efe news agency, the migrants entered the city through various points on the land and sea border strip, taking advantage of the Eid conditions to carry out crossing attempts.
The same data indicated that four Sudanese migrants were able to cross the border fence separating occupied Ceuta from Moroccan territory, before heading to the temporary residence center for migrants in the city, known by the abbreviation “CETI”.
Four other immigrants of Maghreb origin also managed to reach occupied Ceuta by swimming across the sea, at a time when the Muslim community was celebrating Eid al-Adha. Spanish sources did not specify whether these immigrants held Moroccan or Algerian nationality.
The same sources indicated that the migrants were able to sneak through various areas of the border area without being detected by the surveillance cameras deployed in the area, which enabled them to reach inside the occupied gap.
This incident comes in the context of continuing attempts at irregular migration towards occupied Ceuta, despite the security measures adopted along the land and sea borders, where individual or group crossing attempts are recorded from time to time by migrants seeking to reach the European Bank.
