Fnideq –The Moroccan authorities in the city of Fnideq were able to thwart an infiltration attempt into the occupied city of Ceuta, after they arrested a citizen of Algerian nationality who was wearing traditional women’s clothing in an attempt to hide his identity and bypass security surveillance.
According to circulated data, the appearance of the person concerned aroused the suspicions of security personnel after he deliberately concealed most of his facial features, which required him to be subjected to an identity verification process, until it was revealed that he was a man of Algerian nationality.
Following his arrest, the competent authorities launched an investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecution, with the aim of determining the circumstances and circumstances of the incident, revealing the destination he was intending, as well as verifying the possibility of a link between this attempt and networks active in organizing irregular migration or facilitating secret crossing towards the city of Ceuta.
This incident comes in the context of increasing attempts at irregular migration from the northern coast of Morocco, especially during the summer, which usually witnesses an increase in attempts to reach the occupied border by swimming or using various means and methods to evade security surveillance.
Spanish media reports also indicate that migrant smuggling networks have begun to adopt more sophisticated methods, including the use of diving suits, the use of jet skis, or hiding migrants inside vehicles, in exchange for sums of money, in light of the Moroccan and Spanish authorities tightening control measures at the land and sea borders.
