Rabat –The Ministry of the Interior announced, today, Monday, the activation of the Central Election Tracking Committee, in implementation of the Supreme Mawlawi order directed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to the Minister of the Interior and the Chief Public Prosecutor, to ensure the integrity and safety of the legislative elections for electing members of the House of Representatives, scheduled for September 23, 2026.
The Ministry explained, in an official statement, that a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior devoted to activating the central committee, in conjunction with the creation of regional committees at the level of prefectures, regions, and provincial prefects, which includes governors or workers, along with the King’s general agents or agents of the King, in addition to regional committees entrusted with the task of keeping up with the work of the regional committees across the various regions of the Kingdom.
The communication added that the primary mission of these committees is to take all measures to ensure the safety, transparency and honesty of the electoral processes, by tracking the various stages of the electoral process and immediately confronting any practices that may harm its integrity, starting from the preparatory stage until the announcement of the final results.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the committees will carry out their tasks in full respect of the laws and regulations in force, while preserving the powers granted to the judicial, administrative and legislative authorities.
Within the framework of enhancing the integrity of future elections, these committees will work to monitor and control violations related to the elections immediately, and move the procedures for investigation or judicial follow-up whenever the data requires it, in a way that ensures the protection of the will of the voters and the principle of free choice.
The communication also indicated that the Central Committee will hold, when necessary, meetings with leaders of political parties to inform them of the progress of preparations for the elections, and to listen to their observations and suggestions, within the framework of adopting a participatory approach to managing the various stages of the electoral entitlement.
