Tunisia – The General League of Banks and Financial Institutions affiliated with the Tunisian General Labor Union announced the implementation of a general strike that includes all banks in Tunisia during the period extending from the 23rd to the 25th of this month, in a new escalation step in protest against the deteriorating professional and financial conditions.
This decision comes in the context of renewed union demands calling for the resumption of social dialogue on outstanding issues, most notably wage increases and improving working conditions within the banking sector.
The unions confirm that these demands were previously raised during a similar strike in Tunisian banks at the end of last year, without achieving tangible progress in responding to them, which prompted a return to the strike option.
