Ottawa –The Algerian Embassy in the Canadian capital, Ottawa, along with the Algerian Consulate General in Montreal, came out with an official clarification following the spread of rumors on social media claiming that they sold or distributed tickets for the Algerian national team’s match against its Swiss counterpart, scheduled for the city of Vancouver in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup.
The embassy confirmed, in a statement published on its official page, that it had not received any share of tickets for the match, categorically denying the validity of the allegations circulating regarding its or the consulate’s supervision of the distribution or sale of tickets.
She explained that the role of the two missions is limited to diplomatic and consular tasks, noting that the process of purchasing match tickets takes place exclusively through the specialized electronic platforms designated for this purpose.
The embassy called on the Algerian fans to be careful of inaccurate information circulating through social media, and to rely on official channels to obtain information related to the match.
At the conclusion of their statement, the Algerian Embassy in Ottawa and the Consulate General in Montreal renewed their full support for the Algerian national team, expressing their support for the “Greens” supporters during the upcoming confrontation against the Swiss team in the 2026 World Cup.
