Türkiye and Libya renew their energy partnership and expand cooperation in oil trade

AgreedTürkiye**Libya** decided to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation in the field of oil and petroleum products trade, during the meeting of the twenty-second session of the joint economic committee between the two countries, which was held in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, after a 17-year interruption.

The meeting was chaired by the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural ResourcesAlp Arslan BayraktarHe stressed that the two sides reached a consensus on increasing and diversifying the ongoing activities between public companies in both countries, within the framework of a strategic partnership in the energy sector.

Bayrakdar explained, in a statement published on the Turkish “InSocial” platform, that the discussions also included an emphasis on the common will to enhance cooperation in the Libyan land and sea areas, in addition to expanding areas of partnership to include renewable energies and the mining sector.

The Turkish official expressed his country’s desire to transform the historical relations that bring together the two peoples into economic and development dynamism based on the principle of mutual benefit, stressing Ankara’s commitment to continue supporting Libya in its efforts to achieve stability and build a strong economy based on the proper investment of its national resources.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Turkish Minister of Energy and his Libyan counterpart, the Minister of Transportation and the head of the Libyan side in the Joint Economic Committee, signedMuhammad Al-ShahoubiA memorandum of understanding related to the minutes of the committee meeting, establishing a new phase of economic cooperation between the two countries.
