Tunisia –The Maghreb Resilience Fleet announced the arrest of about 15 activists after they participated in a protest march in the Tunisian capital, on Sunday, to demand the release of four members of the organization who have been in detention since last March, at a time when the Tunisian authorities did not officially reveal the details of these arrests or their backgrounds.

The authority reported that the arrest campaign took place during the night hours that followed the march, and included a number of participants in the streets, while others were arrested from inside their homes, before the authority published a list containing the names of 15 people that it said were under arrest on Monday morning, with data being circulated indicating the possibility of the announced number exceeding this number.

These developments came after a march in which hundreds of people participated in the center of the capital, protesting the continued arrest of four activists from the “Resilience Fleet.” On September 11, the Tunisian judiciary decided to extend the period of their precautionary suspension for an additional four months.

The file of those arrested includes Wael Nawar, Ghassan Al-Hanshiri, Ghassan Al-Boughdiri and Nabil Al-Shanoufy, as they face charges related to financial suspicions related to donations collected to finance the fleet’s activities, which are accusations that the authority and the defense of those concerned reject.

In parallel, the “Resilience Fleet” Authority warned of the deteriorating health condition of those detained due to their hunger strike. She said that Wael Nawar has been on strike for more than 35 days, while the other three activists have been on strike for about 12 days, while the defense team expressed its concerns about the repercussions of the detainees’ health condition.

These developments coincide with the continuation of the file before the Tunisian judiciary, amid calls from civil and human rights bodies to demand the release of the activists of the “Resilience Fleet,” awaiting the issuance of official clarifications regarding the circumstances of the arrests of participants in the recent movements.
