The Libyan Interior Minister meets with a number of security leaders to combat illegal immigration

The Libyan Minister of the Interior, Major General Issam Abu Zariba, held a comprehensive meeting during which the issue of illegal immigration was discussed and a plan of security measures that could be applied to limit the escalation of this phenomenon was drawn up, especially at the country’s southern borders. This took place at the ministry’s headquarters in the city of Benghazi.
The meeting witnessed the participation of a number of senior security leaders, including Major General Ahmed Al-Shamekh, Head of the Criminal Investigation Service, Major General Salah Al-Khafifi, Head of the Anti-Illegal Immigration Service, along with Major General Osama Al-Kish, Director of Al-Batnan Security, and Major General Awad Raheel, Assistant Director of the General Administration of Central Support.
During his speech at the meeting, the Minister explained the need to intensify efforts in coordination between the competent security services with the aim of ensuring accurate coverage of highly sensitive areas, especially the border areas that are increasingly witnessing infiltration and smuggling activities linked to immigration.
The speaker also called for respecting the Ministry’s comprehensive security strategy and strengthening coordination between all its components, pointing to the necessity of intensifying efforts involved in prosecuting those involved in immigration cases, in addition to the necessity of modernizing control and oversight tools with the aim of reducing security penetrations in the region.
