Tunisia –Today, Monday, the Tunisian authorities carried out a large field campaign on the beach of Al-Moutouia in the state of Gabes, which resulted in the removal of about 50 random shacks and a number of unlicensed establishments, as part of continuing to confront encroachments on the public maritime domain and regulate the exploitation of the coastal strip.
Units of the National Guard and Marine Guard participated in the operation, along with the municipality of Al-Matwiyah and the technical teams of the Coastal Strip Protection and Development Agency. The campaign aimed to dismantle facilities built without a license and rehabilitate coastal spaces in accordance with legal controls.
This campaign falls within a national program aimed at protecting the coastal strip from various forms of illegal exploitation, and reducing random construction that constitutes an infringement on the marine public domain, while enhancing respect for the laws regulating the exploitation of coastal spaces.
Local affairs observers believe that maintaining the results of these interventions requires continuing field monitoring operations and intensifying periodic oversight, to prevent the return of random construction and ensure the protection of beaches and public marine property in the long term.
