Qatar condemns the Iranian attack on Bahrain and calls for reducing escalation and strengthening international cooperation

Ladoha –The State of Qatar condemned the attack that targeted the Kingdom of Bahrain with a number of Iranian drones, considering it a violation of Bahrain’s sovereignty and a clear violation of the rules of international law, at a time when it called for continuing efforts at calm and dialogue to avoid further escalation in the region.

In an official statement, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed its rejection of the attack, stressing the need to spare the region the repercussions of unjustified attacks, and to continue the path of dialogue and reduce tension in a way that preserves regional security and stability.

Doha also called for building on the gains achieved through the memorandum of understanding signed between Tehran and Washington, in a way that contributes to consolidating security and stability in the region.

On Saturday, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Kingdom’s territory had been attacked by Iranian drones, describing the operation as a blatant violation of national sovereignty and a threat to the security of citizens and residents, stressing that Bahrain reserves its legitimate right to defend its security in accordance with international law.

In the same context, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council condemned,Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, the attack, considering that the continued targeting of civilian facilities and vital infrastructure undermines international and regional efforts aimed at establishing security and peace, reiterating the full Council’s support for Bahrain in all the measures it takes to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity
