Nouakchott –The head of the mission announcedInternational Monetary FundTo Mauritania, Felix Fischer, about the launch of consultations with the Mauritanian authorities to prepare a new economic program, in a step that reflects a trend towards strengthening cooperation between the two sides during the next stage.
The international official explained, in a statement following his meeting with President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, that the details of the upcoming program will be revealed during a joint press conference with the Governor of the Central Bank, Mohamed Lamine Ould Dahabi, in addition to presenting the results of the mission’s current mission in the country.
Fisher pointed out that the discussions addressed the challenges associated withGlobal EconomyAnd its repercussions on the Mauritanian economy, stressing at the same time that Mauritania has achieved results that he described as “positive” during the past three years within the framework of its current program with the Fund.
These consultations coincide with the mission’s conduct of the sixth and final review of the existing program within the framework of the “Extended Fund Facility” and the “Extended Credit Facility,” in addition to completing the fifth review of the “Resilience and Sustainability Facility” program, which paves the way for a new phase of economic partnership between the two parties.
Fisher also described his meetings with a number of Mauritanian officials in recent days as being characterized by a “positive and constructive” spirit, praising the level of cooperation and appreciating the efforts of various government sectors, especially in the fields of economy, health, education, energy and the environment.
