Libya raises its oil production to the highest level in more than a decade

My press – Libya

Crude oil production in Libya recorded a remarkable increase, reaching about 1.43 million barrels per day, which is the highest level the country has achieved in more than ten years, according to official data issued by the National Oil Corporation.

According to the same source, the entire oil revenues for the month of February were transferred to the public treasury without deductions, at a value exceeding two billion dollars, in a step described as a positive indicator of improved management of the sector.

Officials explained that the continuation of this upward trend remains linked to the stability of electricity supply and the improvement of the efficiency of the production infrastructure, in light of the existing technical and logistical challenges.

This development comes after years of unrest that has affected production since 2011, in the context of the continuing political division between two competing governments, and the accompanying tensions over the management of oil revenues.

In a parallel context, Libya seeks to revive the sector by opening the door to investments, as it recently granted licenses for oil and gas exploration to international companies, in the first round of its kind in many years.
