Nouakchott –The National Fuel Committee in Mauritania announced a new increase in gasoline and gasoline prices by 5 percent, starting this June, in the fourth price review since the beginning of 2026.
Under the new pricing, the price of gasoline rose from 619.2 old ouguiya to 650.2 old ouguiya per liter, while the price of gasoline moved from 591.7 old ouguiya to 621.3 old ouguiya per liter.
This increase comes after three previous price reviews over the past months, in light of the continued rise in oil prices and the fluctuations in global energy markets.
The Mauritanian authorities attributed the decision to developments in the international market and the rise in import costs, stressing the continuation of the mechanism of periodic review of prices to keep pace with the changes experienced by the energy markets.
On the other hand, the government announced the maintenance of a number of social support measures directed at low-income families and some categories of employees, in addition to stabilizing electricity prices despite the rise in production costs.
Mauritania relies heavily on importing petroleum derivatives, which makes fuel prices in the local market directly linked to developments in oil prices and supply costs at the international level.
