Algeria –The political controversy escalated in Algeria following the announcement of the provisional results of the legislative elections, after opposition parties announced reservations about the conduct of the electoral process, while threatening to challenge a number of electoral districts, and calling for the opening of an investigation into the violations that they said accompanied the voting and counting process.
In the forefront of the objection parties, it expressedMovement of Society for Peaceexpressed its rejection of the provisional results, considering that they led to a reduction in its representation within the National People’s Assembly, after the number of its seats decreased from65 seatsDuring the previous term to43 seatsAccording to the preliminary results announced by the Independent National Elections Authority.
During a press conference, the head of the movement said,Abdel-Aali Hassani SharifHis party was ahead in a number of states during the counting process, before the results changed, as he put it, after the information network for the electoral process stopped for hours.
