Algeria –The North African region is preparing to receive a new diplomatic tour led by US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, which will include Algeria and Morocco between April 27 and May 1, 2026, in a move that reflects Washington’s increasing interest in strengthening its presence in the region.
According to data issued by the US State Department, the American official will begin his visit in Algeria, where he will hold discussions with government officials related to developing bilateral relations, discussing regional security files, in addition to exploring new economic and investment opportunities.
It is expected that Landau will then move to Morocco, to hold meetings with government officials and economic actors, which will focus on expanding areas of cooperation, especially in the fields of technology and space, as well as strengthening the existing security partnership between the two countries.
This tour comes in the context of rapid transformations taking place in the region, as the United States seeks to expand its network of economic and strategic partnerships and enhance cooperation with its partners in North Africa.
Observers believe that this visit reflects a renewed American approach to the region, by supporting regional stability and engaging in multi-disciplinary cooperation projects, in light of increasing international competition for economic and technological influence.
