Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan chaired, on Monday, the opening ceremony of the 17th session of the International Agricultural Forum in Morocco (SIAM) in Mashour Setnia – Sahrij El Souani in Meknes, which is organized under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, and continues from April 21 to 27, under the slogan “Agriculture and the Rural World: Water is at the Heart of Sustainable Development.”
The opening of this session is an embodiment of the Moroccan King’s continued patronage of the agricultural sector, and the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen its strong commitment to global issues related to food security, sustainable development, and combating climate change.
The opening activities witnessed the presence of a number of prominent political and economic figures, including the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, the Governor of the Fez-Meknes region, and heads of regional councils, in addition to representatives of invited countries and development partners such as ISESCO and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development.
As part of his visit to the exhibition halls, Prince Moulay El Hassan toured the “Water and Irrigation” pole and the “Research and Innovation” pavilion, in addition to visiting the “Digital Agriculture”, “Industry Products” and “Livestock Breeding” poles. The forum witnessed the participation of more than 1,500 exhibitors from 70 countries, and this edition is considered one of the largest agricultural events in the region.
The International Agricultural Forum in Morocco is a major event for the agricultural sector in Africa, and is considered an important platform for exchanging experiences and opening new horizons for cooperation and partnerships between various actors in the agricultural sector, both at the national and international levels.
