Official data reveal: 919 illegal immigration cases in Libya within three months… an increase that raises questions about the effectiveness of the fight

Tripoli –Official data issued by the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency in Libya revealed the registration of919 cases related to illegal immigrationDuring the first quarter of 2026, an indicator that reflects the continuing security pressures associated with this phenomenon.

The announcement came during a meeting between the head of the agency, Major General Salah Mahmoud Al-Khafifi, and the director of the Investigations Department, Major General Abdul-Ali Suleiman, where he received a report that reviewed the progress of security and investigative work, and statistics related to the cases and the measures taken in their regard.

The report explained that the registered cases reflect the volume of files followed by the Investigations Department, within the framework of combating illegal immigration and crimes related to it, in accordance with the legal competencies assigned to the agency.

The meeting also reviewed the work mechanism of the Investigation and Arrest Bureau and the level of coordination between departments and branches, with an emphasis on the need to develop performance, accelerate the pace of completion of cases, and enhance field work to raise the efficiency of the security system.

These numbers highlight the continuing challenges of illegal immigration in Libya, which continues to represent one of the most prominent security issues, in light of the activity of smuggling and human trafficking networks, and the pressure it imposes on the security and judicial agencies to prosecute those involved and reduce the phenomenon.
