Morocco is preparing to return to GMT+1 after the end of Ramadan

Rabat –He is expected to returnMoroccoTo operate at the legal time GMT+1, starting at dawn on Sunday, March 22, 2026, after the end of the month of Ramadan, according to the system approved for amending the legal clock in the Kingdom.

According to available data, sixty minutes will be added to the legal clock at two in the morning on Sunday, March 22, when the clock must be moved forward by one hour, which means a return to the GMT+1 time adopted in Morocco during most days of the year.

This change comes in implementation of the requirements of Decree No. 2.18.855 relating toLegal hour, issued in October 2018, stipulates the adoption of GMT+1 throughout the year, with a temporary return to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) during the month of Ramadan, with the aim of adapting administrative time to the peculiarities of the holy month.

The return to GMT+1 usually occurs on the first Sunday followingEid al-Fitr. For the year 2026, Eid al-Fitr in Morocco is expected to fall on Friday, March 20, or Saturday, March 21, according to the results of observing the crescent of Shawwal, which explains the programming to change the clock on the following Sunday.

With the entry into force of this amendment, public administrations, institutions, and the private sector will resume work according to the usual approved timing during the rest of the year.
