The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad announced the decision to end Hassan Tarek’s duties as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Tunisia, starting March 24, 2025. This decision came in conjunction with his appointment by King Mohammed VI as mediator of the Kingdom, succeeding Mohamed Benalilou, according to an official communication published in the Official Gazette.
It is noteworthy that Hassan Tariq has assumed the position of Moroccan Ambassador to Tunisia since 2019, and he holds a doctorate in public law from the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences in Rabat. He also previously served as coordinator of the Network of Heads of Public Law and Political Sciences in Morocco.
Rabat had summoned Tariq in 2022 in response to the Tunisian President’s reception of the leader of the Polisario Front, Ibrahim Ghali, during the “TICAD” summit held in Tunisia at the time.
