Tripoli –An Italian analytical report revealed increasing coordination between the United States and Italy to push the path of rapprochement between eastern and western Libya, through political and military moves aimed at restoring momentum to the Libyan file and encouraging dialogue between the various parties.
The report, which was published by the newspaper, explained Italian “Il Sole 24 Hour”In recent months, Washington has intensified its diplomatic and military movements, by organizing a military meeting in Angola that brought together the Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of the Presidential Council, Lieutenant General Salah Al-Namroush, in a meeting described as one of the first meetings to discuss common files between the two parties.
The report indicated that the United States also hosted the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant GeneralSaddam HaftarIn Washington, as part of efforts to strengthen communication channels with various Libyan military leaders, in parallel with continuing coordination with official institutions in the west of the country.
The report considered that these moves reflect a shift in the American approach towards Libya, especially after the participation of military units from the east and west of the country in the “Flintlock 2026” maneuvers, in addition to the meetings conducted by Saddam Haftar with American officials, in the presence of Fabrizio Saggio, the diplomatic advisor to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
He added that the presence of the Italian official reflects close coordination between Rome and Washington in managing the current stage, with the two countries seeking to bring the views of the Libyan parties closer together and support the path of political and military stability.
The report believes that American-Italian cooperation aims to enhance dialogue between the military and political institutions in Libya, as part of international efforts to find common ground that contributes to overcoming the division and supporting the settlement path.
