Floods threaten a number of Moroccan provinces.. Evacuation of more than 143 thousand people and pre-emptive mobilization to protect lives

The Ministry confirmed that evacuations are still continuing gradually, according to an approach that assesses the degrees of danger and the extent of potential damage, while harnessing various logistical means and human resources to ensure the transportation of affected people in safe conditions.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the official spokesman for the Ministry explained that the public authorities have worked over the past few days, and in close coordination between the various stakeholders, on a comprehensive and proactive mobilization to confront this exceptional situation, within the framework of continuous monitoring of the climate situation, especially in light of the noticeable rise in the levels of valleys and waterways in a number of regions of the Kingdom.

The same source indicated that these interventions are in implementation of royal instructions, as units of the Royal Armed Forces were deployed in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the rest of the concerned departments, to frame the evacuation operations and ensure their smooth flow, in addition to mobilizing the necessary logistical capabilities.

The measures taken, according to the Ministry, contributed to reducing the repercussions of this situation and ensuring the security and safety of the population, while continuing to accompany those affected by establishing shelter camps and reception spaces, and providing various basic forms of support.

In a related context, the Ministry of the Interior announced that additional precautionary measures would be taken, in anticipation of the expected climate fluctuations in the coming days, based on warning bulletins indicating the possibility of recording rainfall that may reach150 mmIn a short period in some areas, and the exceptional water imports that may accompany it, especially at thelevel Wadi Al-Makhzen Dam.

In light of the increasing danger indicators, the Ministry urgently summoned residents of a number of territorial communities in Larache Province, includingAl-Qasr Al-Kabir, Al-Sawakin, and Sons of UshihIn addition to the industrial zone and the areas adjacent to the mouth ofLocos ValleyTo strictly adhere to the instructions of the public authorities, especially immediate evacuation, to preserve lives.

The Ministry of Interior concluded by emphasizing that the various concerned authorities and departments will continue, within the framework of continuous recruitment and coordination, to implement all necessary measures to protect the population and ensure the safety of citizens and their property, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation with the local population, which has demonstrated high awareness and responsibility in dealing with this circumstance.
